Biarritz have been playing in red and white for as long as we can remember with famous old boys including Serge Blanco, Olivier Roumat and current French coach, Marc Lievremont donning the celebrated Basque jersey.
The criteria for the modern day shirt seems to be that they have to be worn two sizes too small, loud and pretty, made of polyester and something that resembles an advertising board.
It’s a far cry from the Cotton Traders Ruggers of mythical rugby days past, but while Biarritz have begrudgingly conformed to modern trends, at least they have kept with their traditional colour scheme unlike Stade Francais, who look like they should be walking the catwalks rather than the trenches.
