Banahan the beast...

Two of England’s hottest, speediest, prospects, Matt Banahan and Miles Benjamin have penned new deals at Bath and Worcester respectively.

Banahan, 6ft 7in and weighs 17st 4lbs, has bulldozered his way across the whitewash on eight occasions already in 2007, and Brian Ashton is a well known admirer, while Benjamin, a 19-year-old sensation, who has formed a lethal partnership out wide for the Warriors with Rico Gear is in the England U20 World Cup squad.

You can't keep James Haskell quiet for a second!

With the Six Nations rapidly approaching and Brian Ashton running scared with his squad announcement, we've looked over the weekend's games and picked our team for Wales if England played them tomorrow. Remember this is only on current form!

15: Mark Cueto (Sale Sharks) Caused problems with his running lines, and solid as ever in defence. Timing his return to form well.
14: Paul Sackey (London Wasps) Has come back from the World Cup and hasn’t even stopped for air. The best winger in England bar none.
13. Chris Bell (Sale Sharks) Hat trick signed off a fantastic comeback from injury for England’s forgotten man.
12: Shane Geraghty (London Irish) Back in again this week and another man of the match performance to take Irish to the brink.
11: Matt Banahan (Bath) How he didn’t even make the Saxons squad no one knows but the boy runs over, through and past people and doesn’t care who’s in front.
10: Jonny Wilkinson (Newcastle) On recent evidence he can’t be left out of the 1st XV and kicked all his goals. Can’t fault him.
9: Peter Richards (London Irish) Electric breaks off the back of the scrum and found space even when it wasn’t there.
8: Richard Thorpe (London Irish) The latest young back-row to emerge and three tries showed England’s positon is healthy.
7: Michael Lipman (Bath) Keeps churning out descent performances and proved just why he is back in England reckoning.
6: James Haskell (London Wasps) With all the talk about Tom Croft this week, Hask, let his rugby do the talking. Shoo in at six surely?
5: Hugh Vyvyan (Saracens) The old-timer can still do it and even out gunned All-Black Chris Jack as man-of-the-match.
4: Simon Shaw (London Wasps) The Wasps front-five was awesome and even though he was withdrawn early, did enough up front to make it.
3: Tim Payne (London Wasps) Scrummaged as good as ever and set the platform for a field day for Cipriani & co.
2: David Paice (London Irish) A short afternoon but did his job well and gave Ashton plenty of food for thought.
1: Phil Vickery (London Wasps) Well it seems everybody else is supporting the captain so a goo.
