Shall we just leave our kit here lads...

Bristol v Bath
Gloucester v Leicester Tigers
Newcastle Falcons v Sale Sharks
Northampton Saints v Worcester Warriors
London Irish v London Wasps
Saracens v Harlequins

Keep the weekend of September 6th free. Delete everything from your diaries, book time off work, ring that aunt you haven't see in ages and tell her she's going to have to wait another 12 months to give you that knitted sweater - The Guinness Premiership fixtures are finally out with some absolute belters to get us right back in the spirit.

The London double header may well draw in the big crowds for a jolly-good piss-up at Twickenham, but a repeat of last years epic semi-final between Gloucester and Leicester Tigers has the pulses racing already.

Andy Goode can expect a barrage of pasties hurled at his flowing locks upon entry to Kingsholm while it'll be a good opportunity to check out Olly Barkley and Toby Flood going head-to-head.

Bristol entertain Bath with a West Country derby while newly promoted Northampton Saints host Worcester Warriors.

London Irish and Wasps kick off matters in the capital before Saracens use up their home fixture against Harlequins.

Other highlights include Round 2: Bath v Gloucester, Round 4: Leicester Tigers v London Wasps and the final day sees Wasps entertain Gloucester in what could possibly be the final on the 16th May.

'...I've always been a fan of the Waltons...'

Heyneke Meyer is the favourite to succeed Marcelo Loffreda as Leicester Tigers Head Coach with the former Blue Bulls man tipped to be given the nod before the end of the week.

A whole host of prized rugby alumni had been linked with arguably the most enviable club positiion in the world - World Cup winning South African Jake White, All-Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith, Stade Francais' new top dog Ewen McKenzie and Monday's favourite, Dai Young had also been in the frame, but Blues chairman Peter Thomas blocked any move for the former Welsh prop.

Neil Back was the frontrunner, but rumour has it he could be heading north to become Leeds Carnegie's head coach, leaving Richard Cockerill treading merky waters in the River Soar, especially considering his loyalty was tarnished on Sky Sports Rugby Club under Loffreda.

The players had been shouting for Daryl Gibson to return all of last season and they could get their wish with the Glasgow Warriors player/coach potentially joining as backs coach.

Who is Heyneke Meyer?

Age: 44

What he's about:
Determination, dedication, decisiveness.

Ethos:
"All about the journey, making a positive contribution to someone's life and doing something that I love"

Coaching Kudos:

In 1999, in only his second season as head coach, Meyer coaches the South Western District Eagles to their first semi-final ever in Currie Cup history.

Between 2002-2006, with the Blue Bulls, he reached the Currie Cup final six times, overseeing a triumphant hat-trick of trophies.

In 2005, led the Vodacom Blue Bulls to a first Super 12 semi-final and named SA Rugby Magazine Coach of the Year.

In 2007, he masterminded the biggest Super winning margin 92-3 demolition of the Queensland Reds before a 19-13 win over the Natal Sharks in 2007 to win South Africa's first Super 14 trophy.

'...I dunno Carl, I hear Newcastle's a dive...'

Gloucester have been busy in the forward supermarket. Following Adam Eustace and Dave Young rolling into Kingsholm yesterday, All-Black prop Greg Somerville completed a move from the Canterbury Crusaders.

Somerville is New Zealand's most capped prop in history after making his 59th appearance against England while he destroyed Andrew Sheridan & Co in Auckland.

The 30-year-old prop, who can play on either side of the scrum, will join up with his new teammates in December after the NPC season concludes after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Eustace spent a sabbatical season at the Scarlets but will return to the Cherry & Whites, hoping to add to his 191 caps for the club while Young joins from Leicester Tigers - both on one year deals.

'I thought they'd promised me a couple more years too...'

Marcelo Loffreda had been due to enjoy a five-day holiday to Argentina before returning to face the music at Welford Road where Peter Tom and Peter Wheeler had finished conducting rugby's time-wasting trend of lengthy reviews, but word came out of the most powerful club in England that they had parted company with their Argentine coach.

First it was Brian Ashton, who definitely won't be moving up to the Midlands, then Chelsea coach Avram Grant, and now Loffreda. What is noticeable is that all three managers/coaches were overseeing their teams with one eye firmly on the boardroom, not permitted to just get on with what they do best and coach.

Between them, 7 runners-up spots in the space of six months, represents a descent return for teams, who were by far from the best teams in their respective competitions - that's if you weren't dealing with shop owners, who wanted to have their hands in the till, on the shelves and taking stock take at every possible chance.

Next in line as shopkeeper is just as much of a puzzle for everyone. The players would prefer at internal appointment, probably with Austin Healey and Will Greenwood piggy-backing onto Messrs Back and Cockerill but what about Jake White - a World Cup winner nonetheless - who knows a thing or two about political pressures and would laugh at Chairman Tom with even the slightest interference. Sounds like a match made in heaven.

Looks like the lead singer of G4 if you ask us...

Mike Ruddock has begun scowering the motherland for talent after signing the former Welsh international fly-half Mattew Jones after a brief spell at London Welsh.

Ruddock capped the 24-year-old on Wales' tour to North America in 2005 and the pair will be reunited at Sixways with Jones a straight replacement for Shane Drahm.
