Hibbard: Suffering from a bad case of shoulder-knack...

Ospreys' Richard Hibbard is set to miss the first few weeks of the new season after undergoing surgery on his injured right shoulder.

The Wales hooker suffered the knock while in South Africa during Wales' summer tour, and experienced pain when he returned to pre-season training. The Magners League begins on 5th September, with Ospreys opening against Connacht. Hibbard should be fit again in time for Wales' international match against South Africa in November.

'...I'm raising money for the new stadium...'

The Stadium of Light, Theatre of Dreams, Pride Park... now we have Parc y Scarlets.

The Llanelli Scarlets have named their new stadium in celebration of the rugby region's "unrivaled heritage and as a tribute to its passionate supporters and local community."

What drivel! OK, so fair enough, they haven't sold themselves to the commercial devil like the Ospreys, but unrivaled heritage? Bath & Leicester Tigers might have something to say about that, and anyway wasn't Stradey Park the main ingredient of its 'heritage'?

'I wasn't pushed, it was my decision ?!'

Lyn Jones has left the Ospreys by mutual consent following another disappointing season in the Magners League and Heineken Cup despite winning the EDF Energy Cup.

Jones feels he needs a fresh challenge after spending ten years with the Welsh region

It's been on the cards for a while given the amount of pressure and lack of trophies in the Liberty Stadium cabinet.

Considering they've got 95% of the Welsh team as well as a shed load of cash, the defeat to Saracens in the Heineken Cup quarter-final was arguably the last straw.

Names in the running include Scott Johnson, Steve Hansen as well as Jake White and Nick Mallet. So it's fair to say they're none to concerned about the wage-bill.

'Great Scott!'

There may be one or two...thousand sceptical Stradey Park folk waking up this morning after sharing the same nightmare that Nigel Davies is their new coach.

News for you, it wasn't a nightmare, and Davies pointed out that he wants toput into practice all the experience he has gained - needless to say he doesn't mean the dark days working with Gareth Jenkins in the Welsh setup.

Davies has already done a good job endearing himself to his new fans, saying, “I think in Wales we have got an inferior gene and we think that people with a different accent are better people than us.”

Not that he thinks so, but all this negativity isn't much of a promising start...
