The sister competition to the Heineken Cup originated in 1996 runs from November to May. Teams from England, France, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Romania, and on some occasions, Spain and Portugal, compete on a pool, and then knock-out, basis.

Hat-trick-Hinton

England's challenge in the second-tier European competition is looking good with Leeds, Sale, Bath and Worcester all winning. Newcastle let the side down, narrowly losing at Connacht but should still qualify. Leigh Hinton and Pat Sanderson grabbed three tries apiece while former All-Black, Rico Gear made a stunning debut.
