Banahan the beast...

Two of England’s hottest, speediest, prospects, Matt Banahan and Miles Benjamin have penned new deals at Bath and Worcester respectively.

Banahan, 6ft 7in and weighs 17st 4lbs, has bulldozered his way across the whitewash on eight occasions already in 2007, and Brian Ashton is a well known admirer, while Benjamin, a 19-year-old sensation, who has formed a lethal partnership out wide for the Warriors with Rico Gear is in the England U20 World Cup squad.

Tough times this season for Leeds...

Leeds Carnegie’s season is threatening to go from bad to worse after Brive’s shock win in Galway on Friday night that followed their disappointing defeat in dire conditions in Castres on Thursday.

The French side are almost certain to qualify as one of the three best runners-up and tries from Farid Sid, Jawad Djoudi
and centre Suka Hufanga helped them to a 22-15 victory.

Dax made it a double delight for France with a 22-0 home win over Calvisano - their first of the competition.

Worcester's Warriors charge into the QF's

Result

Castres 13-3 Leeds Carnegie
: Castres win the group now Leeds’ hopes hang in the balance and must hope Sale beat Montpellier and Connacht beat Brive.

Fixtures

Connacht v Brive: Brive need a win to qualify but Connacht are yet to lose at home - Few Guinness’ had on Saturday toasting a best runners-up spot.
Dax v Calvisano: Dead rubber but Dax's extra grease should cause an Italian slip up.
Albi v Overmach Parma: French meat tops the menu as Parma ham breaks too easily.
Bath v Auch: Bath have already qualified and won’t sink against Auch.
Rugby Parma v Montauban: Neither can qualify but an away victory is a shoo in.
Worcester v Bucuresti: Highest scorers against a leaky defence - No brainer!
Montpellier v Sale: Sale to do Leeds a favour and win comfortably.
Petrarca v Bayonne: Bayonne to record back-to-back wins over the Italians but nothing much to shout about.
Newcastle v Cetransa El Salvador: Falcons to confirm their status as pool winners with a thumping victory.

Saracens bound - Steve Borthwick

After ten years at Bath, Steve Borthwick has decided to jump ship and set sail for Saracens.

"After 10 years here, I feel that the time is right for a new challenge. A change in club provides that and I am excited about what the future holds."

Depite being a consistent member in the England setup and an outstanding serviceman for Bath, a move to Saracens alongside Chris Jack could add another dimension to his game.

He cited a new challenge as being the major factor in his decision but let's face it, it wasn't for the surroundings!
