Vilimoni Delasau: Good dreadlocks!

Results:

Montauban 42-20 Toulon
Mont-de-Marsan 7-31 Perpignan
Castres 26-31 Montpellier
Dax 32-10 Bourgoin
Toulouse 21-15 Brive
Clermont Auvergne 22-6 Stade Francais
Biarritz 12-14 Bayonne

And what did we learn from our French lesson this week?

Pretty shirts wins you no favours as Stade Francais dropped to their second successive defeat handing over the lead to champions Toulouse. Thierry Dusautoir's second-half score got the better of Andy Goode's booming boot.

Any star pupils?

Top of the class was Fijian flyer Vilimoni Delasau, who ran in three tries to leave Tana Umaga's head on a plate at Toulon. It seems Mourad Boudjellal is picking them off one by one after Jean-Jacques Crenca's dismissal last week.

So, Clermont have been doing their homework?

With a little help from the weather gods, as soon as crackerjack scrum-half Pierre Mignoni went over after five minutes the writing was on the wall for the Parisian artists.

Clement Poitrenaud: Does he curl his eye-brows or something?

Results
Toulon 17-21 Castres
Stade Francais 13-26 Toulouse
Bayonne 14-9 Brive
Montpellier 12-19 Bourgoin
Clermony Auvergne 25-30 Montauban
Perpignan 17-6 Dax

You won't catch us having a go at French rugby at ScrumoftheEarth, not with the glut of tries and boutique-designed shirts that make Anglo-Welsh rugby matches look like a mother's meeting in Poole.

Too right. And following in Munster's tepid footsteps, another of European rugby’s unbeaten records vanishes...

So Stade Francais were toppled by Toulouse?

Two tries leading up to half-time from Clement Poitrenaud and Yannick Jauzion coupled with Juan Martin-Hernandez's premature exit and Lionel Beauxis’ wayward boot blew a black mist over a bumper Stade de France crowd.

I heard it was near 80,000 capacity?

Almost. Proving that apart from being gallery hunting, coffee drinking, sexual-orientated pretty folk, they do like their rugby up in the north.

Any other shocks?

Well Montauban exacted some revenge for last weekend’s Heineken Cup defeat by ending a 50-year barren spell in Clermont. It was especially sweet for Fijian flyer Vilimoni Delasau who touched down.

So what’s the gap at the top now then?

Stade remain four points clear but with Dan Carter’s imminent arrival, Perpignan look handily placed in third and six points off the top.

Norman Ligairi and Julio Baptista separated at birth?

Perpignan 37-12 Toulon
Stade Français 34-16 Montauban
Biarritz 46-3 Montpellier
Brive 53-11 Mont de Marsan
Castres 10-28 Toulouse
Bourgoin 23-30 Clermont Auvergne
Dax 27-17 Bayonne

Another sack load of tries. Wish they'd send some over on the ferry...

It’d be nice. At least we’ll see what we’re missing out on next week…

Is your girlfriend sending over the recorded highlights from France?

No. It’s the Heineken Cup and the top four are looking magnifique!

Can anyone cling onto Stade Francais?

Montauban were dreaming of oysters, champagne and brothels going in 9-9 at the break but four second-half tries did the business with wing Djibril Camara touching down.

Can they reclaim the trophy?

Ewen McKenzie’s brought his success with the Waratahs over to the capital and has instilled a real workmanlike ethic that was sometimes lost behind all the glitz and glam last year.

Looking familiar at the top now…

Wait until Christmas when the Heineken Cup hangover kicks in. It could play into Perpignan’s hands and judging by their steamrolling performance past Toulon, a little bit of Dan Carter magic could be just the tipple - Plus one-man advantages every week as Tana Umaga’s side shipped in four in ten minutes.

And Clermont Auvergne? Are they coming into some form?

Brock James (17 points) is splitting the sticks and Napolioni Nalaga crossing the whitewash in successive weeks, so it seems normal service is resuming.

Any news from Biarritz? Is Eddie en route?

Hold your 2CV’s for one moment. Biarritz scored six tries with kingpin Damien Traille going over twice. Not quite as impressive as Brive full-back Norman Ligairi who bagged himself a hat-trick.

Things are really picking up for all the Midlanders now?

Another flawless kicking display from Andy Goode set the tone while Ben Cohen looks like the French diet of red wine, fresh fish and petit fours is doing the trick. Who knows, maybe Austin Healey will pop up there someday?

If he can drag his huge guns off the dancefloor?

I think the French would kick him back quicker than Dawn French could munch her way through a cheesecake...

Mourad Boudjellal: 'These sunglasses only cost ten euros...'

Castres v Toulouse
Stade Français v Montauban
Biarritz v Montpellier
Perpignan v Toulon
Brive v Mont-de-Marsan
Bourgoin v Clermont
Dax v Bayonne

All eyes are on Perpignan this weekend...

Why is Dan Carter doing another fashion shoot for his jock-straps...

Not this weekend. Toulon are in town with Mourad Boudjellal teetering on the brink of insanity...

Insanity?

He doesn't realise why spending shed loads of cash doesn't bring instant success...

So any joy this weekend?

Their scrum endured a right old-fashioned mauling at the hands of Bayonne last week but the Catalans are even more ferocious and will chew and spit ou every last spare bit of fat on the 'million dollar' men's front-row.

About as much chance of Tana Umaga lasting the seasons then?

Absolutely. Check out Stade Francais. Parisians are known for indulging but six points clear and rolling out Sylvian Marconnet, Dimitri Szarzewski and Mauro Begamasco takes the baguette.

Who are heading up to the capital?

Montauban can deal with it - they're the highest scorers in the Top 14 - although we're not expecting miracles. There's more chance of Stade bringing out a decent shirt.

I like the Montpellier one...

Their alternative shirt is doing the trick with two wins from three on the road. Another win in Biarritz, who have Eddie O'Sullivan staying in a local hotel waiting impatiently by the phone, could see BO changing more than their stripes.

And with the Heineken Cup approaching, what's Toulouse form like?

Picking up nicely, just like Danny Cipriani's media darlingness. Jean-Baptiste Elissalde's timely return gives Byron Kelleher a much-needed break.

Mark Gasnier: From the top of the Eiffel Tower...

Results:

Bourgoin 25-32 Stade Français
Clermont Auvergne 32-6 Biarritz
Montauban 24-23 Castres
Mont-de-Marsan 16-22 Montpellier
Brive 41-9 Dax
Toulouse 30-20 Perpignan
Bayonne 19-15 Toulon

So they're not best pleased in France with these ELVs either?

At least Top 14's finest are scoring tries though...

Lots of points this weekend then?

Only Dax and Toulon failed to cross the whitewash as Andy Goode finally announced himself to the Brive faithful with a vinage 19-point show.

Who scored more than I did Saturday night?

Clermont Auvergne are back-in-business in ruthless fashion thrashing a poor Biarritz side with Napolioni Nalaga and Anthony Flosch tries sealing a bonus-point.

Les Januards edging closer to the top...

Stade Francais streched their lead to six points despite only scoring two tries with debutant Mark Gasnier scoring and the impeccable boot's of Beauxis and Hernandez stearing them to victory.

With Perpignan losing, who's now in second spot?

Bayonne's flawless home-form continues with Cedric Garcia's solitary try enough to mute Toulon. Dan Carter might've been in London but his new employers struggled against Toulouse's all-action display with Byron Kellher fizzing around the fringes and centre pairing, Yannick Jauzion and Florian Fritz running and off-loading all match.

Any dramas like a punch-up or a derisory moustache?

Anthony Lagardere was hanging his head in shame after missing a last-minute conversion for Castres but nothing as serious as an out-of-place strand of hair.
